PhD--Doctor of Philosophy, the highest degree program in academic realm. When people see a PhD title in our name tag, I noticed people would think we are a top performer in university outside Indonesia. Well, it is a normal to think like that, but actually we should ask his or her journey to reach a PhD degree. Some people said to me that doing a PhD is just like a lifetime period, others argued that pursuing a PhD is a must if we want to succeed in our future career. But as I think it more and more again, the main question came up in my mind would be "Do you know what is your reason pursuing PhD?"
It is quite tricky questions, but that is the reality. Many experts wrote that doing a PhD would change the future career path, especially for those who involve in academics environment. It is a must to have a PhD title as lecturer. And I started to ask myself "really?" More and more I realize that PhD is not just about aiming for top grade in university but also reaching our deepest passion on the topic that we would hope to be an expert of it in the near future.
Gosh, time consuming would be a great issue when we study for PhD. Sleepless nights, unhealthy behaviour, psychological pressure, lack of quality time with family members or friends are several indications that my friends experienced during their PhD time. Again, "really?"
Of course, I have to admit that being a PhD candidate would not be an easy tasks to do. But, by FAITH, I could minimize the possible disturbance that might occurs. God, I am preparing my PhD application. I put my trust and faith in YOU. I believe that God directs my life. Preparing all documents is really time consuming, but YOU remind me about my purpose of life.
Hmmm, I pray that Lord will lead my way as a PhD candidate and PhD graduate. Start believing and expecting from You My King.
